RACHEL MOODY
Rachel Moody has advised college and university students and has trained academic advisors for over 20 years.
She is currently the Director for International Academic Partnerships and International Academic Advising for the Center for International Education and Global Strategy at the University at Albany, State University of New York (UAlbany). Previously she was the Assistant Director of the Academic Support Center where she provided new advisor training, chaired the professional development committee, and facilitated numerous trainings for academic advisors. She has presented at the Global Community for Academic Advising (NACADA) regional and national conferences and she is often sought as a resource to mentor new advisors within and outside of her campus.
In her current position, part of her role is to help prepare students in dual degree programs to transition to UAlbany. She meets with students in their home countries, facilitating group presentations and individual meetings; and she meets with their academic advisors to support their concerns. She is currently pursuing her doctoral degree in Education Policy and Leadership where her research focuses on academic advising, student persistence, and retention.
In 2016, she was one of the inaugural awardees of the UAlbany Provost’s Award for Excellence in Academic Advising. She also received the EAB Advising Excellence Award in 2017.
